I looked upon the face of God
I looked upon the face of God
And tried to see the truth
Then the beauty filled my eyes
My questions became sooth
The words soon filled my mind
They were all writ in gold
The wisdom was there to be found
The love there to hold
I looked upon the face of God
When I beheld the world
The flowers or joy of a child
Showed His beauty unfurled
I looked upon the face of God
He was in the setting sun
The joy of knowing right
And of a job well done

God’s Crayon box
Walking through the woods
Bright carpet on the ground
The canopy above
In color does abound
A crisp Autumn breeze
Stirs the air around me
Swirling colors of the leaves
Now they surround me
God brought out his crayon box
To color the world today
Gave them to the angels
And set them out to play.

I searched for God
I searched throughout the universe
To see if I could find God
But where I finally found Him
Was really not quite that odd
I thought if I looked hard enough
I would find Him among the stars
Where I finally found Him
Was nearer me than far
On the day I found Him
I looked down at my feet
And found Him in a flower
Growing by a busy street
I thought I might find Him
If I looked in outer space
But instead I found Him
In a young child’s face
I thought I could find Him
If I looked up in the skies
But instead I found Him
In the faithful person’s eyes
I found Him there beside me
When I was in need
He was in a stranger’s hands
When they did me a good deed
I could not find Him
Inside of man’s great books
But in a simple person’s heart
Was where I had to look.
