In 1906 there was an encounter that was had in a house in downtown L.A. called, ‘The Bonnie Brae House. The address is 216 Bonnie Brae St. There was a African American man named William Seymour who, with a small group of others were praying on a ten day fast. William Seymor was heading this up. Suddenly someone was baptized in the Holy Spirit and began to to speak in other tongues as recorded in the bible. The testimony was shared and soon after, the rest of the group received this experience also. This began to spread, even as a small flame can set a whole forest ablaze, this is what happened!
The first corporate experience of this phenomenon called tongues happened in the historical story of the first experience of the Holy Spirit that came like the sound of a ‘rushing mighty wind’ on 120 people that were gathered in an upper room, waiting for what Jesus called, ‘the Promise of the Father.’ They all began speaking in other languages and thousands of Jews from all over the world who had gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Pentecost, the feast of the harvest firstfruits. People came from all over the world and spoke the dialects and languages of all these places. When they heard the 120 praising God, they were amazed that they were praising God in all the languages of the nations that the Jews represented without education of how to speak their languages. It was a great sign and wonder to the Jews. It was only 9:00 in the morning and all the people who saw and heard this thought they were all drunk. But Peter explained that it was only 9:00 in the morning and 120 people don’t get drunk that early! They must have been swooning under this divine power that came like a rushing mighty wind. The bible records that even flaming tongues of fire rested upon all of the heads of the 120 that were gathered. Jesus said to believe in Him and you will receive living waters that would gush out of our inner most being; and this he meant the gift of the Holy Spirit that the father would pour out upon all flesh as prophesied in the book of the prophet Joel!
That was 2000 years ago. From then until now, the Holy spirit has continually poured out upon humanity according to Joel’s prophecy that when the Holy Spirit would come, that you’re old men would dream dreams, your young men would have visions and your children would prophesy! It then went on to say that all who would call on the name of the Lord would be saved!
There are times in history where the world seems to have spiritual dry spells, but Isiah says that he would provide springs in the desert and the desert would bloom and rejoice.
The world was in need of a fresh outpouring of the Spirit. It was in a dry spell. And sure enough, according to God’s time and season, he poured out fresh oil upon these believers gathered for 7 years, tarrying for a new move and encounter of the Holy Spirit. It happened. Today it is known as the AZUSA Street Revival. It also has been termed, the modern day Pentecost and it took place in downtown Los Angeles in the USA.

My partner, Grace Wilson, who accompanied me in a divine assignment of travelling throughout the USA in 1994 was with me. We felt impressed to visit the historic Bonnie Brae House. When we got there, I felt to pull out my guitar and begin to sing to the Lord on the porch. We were so excited to be at this very significant place that brought Holy Spirits fresh outpouring to all the nations of the world to this very day. I heard that over 800,000,000 people have not only received Jesus, but the baptism of the Holy Spirit since then because of that movement. Any charismatic or Pentecostal type church since 1906 have mostly sprang out of that restored foundation.
As I was singing on the Bonnie Brae porch, a man walked out. This house has become like a museum commemorating the famous modern Pentecostal ‘upper room.’ We didn’t know anyone was in there.
He saw us singing and asked us if we’d like to come in and he’d give us a little tour. We were elated! He showed us the piano that someone suddenly played in that Holy Spirit corporate baptism who had never played the piano before.
The porch of the Bonnie Brae House had caved in during that time, because so many people were coming to that sound. Crowds of people from the surrounding neighborhoods were gathering on the front lawn and the street like a massive congregation. They had to find another place to gather because of this. They located a wharehouse on Azusa Street and called it, The Azusa Street Mission.
Another Prayer Meeting
This man asked Grace and I if we’d like to come back that evening to lead worship at a prayer meeting that he’s been holding at the Bonnie Brae House. He said that there were a small gathering of Phillipinne people that have also been praying regulary simllar to the 1906 group of African Americans. He said, they also had been praying for 7 years! Wow! We were amazed. We were also shocked that we were invited to lead worship at a prayer gathering at the famous Bonnie Brae House!
So, of course, we went. I brought my guitar and began to lead praise and worship. A spirit of prophecy came upon me and us all as I was singing. Revelations says twice, ‘Worship God for the spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus!’ I did a break down of the meaning of these two scriptures. It means, ‘Yield to the Holy Spirit, who is the Lord, and the divine breathe of inspiration from within with manifest what Jesus wants to reveal in the moment through the manifestation of presence of God and the gifts of the spirit.” What a great time and place for this to happen! The presence of God captured us all in such a way that it felt that we were all possessed and on fire by God’s spirit! These ladies got up and began to spin quickly in dances. They said that this had never happened to them like this. As this was happening, my voice got louder as I began to declare his praises and began to release prophetic declarations about the goodness of Jesus. The pastor suddenly cried out for us to stop! He said, “I have to tell you all something.” He was sobbing. He told us that earlier during that morning he cried out to God. He said that he was so discouraged that he was going to quit the Bonnie Brae House Prayer meetings that he hosted for 7 years. He told God from the bottom of his heart that he would quit unless God gave him a sign. He then went on to share with us all that Grace and I were the sign that God gave. It was the powerful encounter with God’s spirit of prophecy that came upon us and the fact that he met us on the porch, realizing that God had sent us.
The bible says to eagerly desire and covet spiritual manifestations, especially that we would prophesy. This is because the manifestation of the spirit called prophesy encourages, builds up and strengthens. That’s what happened when a spirit of prophecy came upon us all like spiritual fire and I began to prophecy in the music! He was encouraged and didn’t quit! It would be great if the universal church of Jesus Christ would covet the manifestation of the spirit of prophesy during some of these discouraging and fear oriented times that we’re in… and it’s happening!
A Year Later-Prophecy of AZUSA NOW, 2016
A year later, 1995, Grace and I were in Los Angeles again, on another USA mission directed by the Lord. We felt led to go back randomly on a Wednesday evening around 7:00pm to go back to the porch of the Bonnie Brae House and sing one more time the song of the Lord. We certainly didn’t expect anything to happen as last time, but we just wanted to be there again and praise God for what happened last year with this paster and the continuing prayer ministry at the House.
As we were walking down the sidewalk toward the porch, we noticed a signboard commemorating the 1906 Holy Ghost outpouring. The address of the Bonnie Brae House is 216. How amazing that it is the very scripture chapter and verse in Acts 2:16 that says, ‘In the last days I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions and your children shall prophesy and all who call upon the name of the Lord… and this promise will be for you and your children and all who are afar off!’ The far off, my friends carries all the way to today and until Jesus returns. We discovered also that the letters of AZUSA are AZ- USA. Jesus is the A. Jesus is the Z. He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega of USA! He completes every good work that he begins! He is the A and the Z of USA! The spirit of prophecy came upon me as we were reading this and I declared that what Jesus began at the Bonnie Brae House with adults in 1906 was the A of the USA and the World, but that he was also the Z. He started with adults, but is going to release a new movement in the future with young men and women, and children with visions, prophetic gifts, along with signs, wonders and miracles. A supernatural youth movement would arise in the USA in the future!
As I was prophesying this message, to our astonishment, this same pastor came walking out the front door again! An entire year later! We couldn’t believe it and neither could he. He exclaimed, “Angel! Grace! I can’t believe you’re hear again! I have to go to a meeting, but inside the Bonnie Brae House right now, there is a youth meeting. I’d like you to go in and tell the youth pastor that I want you to lead this meeting. Wow! We could hardly believe it!
So we went in and the youth pastor gladly gave us the floor. There were about 30 on fire young people there. As I began to play the guitar, the spirit of prophecy came as I began to sing, and then I began to declare the prophetic word about the coming prophetic and Holy Spirit supernatural youth movement that would arise sometime in the future. As this was happening, again, like a year ago, we were all captured by a divine power that fuzed us all together in a unity of song. I said, ‘Follow Me!’ I began to lead them out of the door, singing the song of the Lord all around the Bonnie Brae block outside. We all continued to sing in the prophetic presence of God, non-stop until we got back into the Bonnie Brae House. As we were entering back into the house, the youth began to fall out under the power of God on the floor, vibrating under the power of God having visions about this coming youth movement and prophesying!!! It was absolutely incredible!
2016 AZUSA NOW-Youth Jesus Movement!
On April 9th, 2016, Grace and I attended the beginning of the fulfillment of the 216 AZUSA Youth Prophecy. It was called, AZUSA NOW-The Call, headed up by Lou Engle and Fred Barry. 70,000 Christians from all over the USA gathered in the LA memorial Colisseum for an entire morning , afternoon and evening of declarations, prayers, worship and ministry. It was said that 80% of them were YOUTH! What was so amazing about this was that young people were traversing the coliseum throughout the day asking the Lord to guide them to pray for people. Lou Engle was giving testimonies of these young people praying for people, who happened to be coming out of wheelchairs and having various other types of miraculous healings! Young Christians were praying for people, prophesying over them and getting visions to minister to people from the Holy Spirit. I watched a lot of it and also participated myself! It’s also interesting to see that this event happened in the year 2016! Acts 216! 216 AZ-USA! Im going to write a caption from AZUSA website that is called,

There are times which Scripture describes as “full” — periods of unusual ripeness in which God unleashes His prophetic purpose across the earth.  Such days of faith and expectation often come during periods of crisis or widespread uncertainty.
For 15 years, amidst massive cultural decay, Lou Engle and TheCall have sought to proclaim the bold, uncompromising message of consecration to Jesus. Like John the Baptist, we have cried out, “Prepare the way of the Lord!”
Yet the last statement of John was not “Prepare the way,” but “Behold the Lamb!” If there was truly a John Movement, then a Jesus Movement is surely coming! Believing that decades of globe-spanning prayer have saturated the heavens, we will boldly ask God for the rain of revival on April 9th, 2016.
We will consecrate an entire day — 15 hours — for the purpose of unity, miracles, healing, and the proclamation of the gospel.
Instead of 120 in the Upper Room, we seek to gather as many as 120,000 in one place and one accord to simply exalt Jesus. And for inspiration, we turn to the most powerful expression of revival in modern times: the historic Azusa Street Revival of 1906.
