resurrection power
by Sandra Moats
This month we celebrate Resurrection Sunday; in modern times known
as Easter. The resurrection power of Jesus Christ is the same as it
was yesterday, today, and forever. Heb 13:8. He alone holds the power
to quicken our mortal bodies by His Spirit, when He dwells in us. Ro
8:11. Some believe that the power of His resurrection stopped two
thousand years ago, but that is not truth. Jesus has not returned to
planet Earth for us yet. Miracles of salvation, healing and
deliverance, which occur by His resurrection power, still happen today
because He is alive!
In John 14:12 we read that if we believe on Jesus Christ then we
will do the works that He did, does, and desires to do. We are His
disciples, His followers, His people who walk on Earth and occupy
until He returns.
There is a key to His resurrection power being able to flow
through His followers. The key is to live in His presence. Being
discipled is a bit different now than during the time when Jesus
walked on Earth. Now we learn from Him as we talk to him in our prayer
closets and as we go about our daily activities. As we gather together
with other believers we learn how to closely match our steps to His.
We learn by spending time in His Word, which gives us a clear map for
our path. The flow will come as we are in His presence. But His
resurrection power will not flow through us unless we release it into
lives that He sends our way. If we don’t use the gifts He gives us we
will lose them.
Many wonder why we don’t see many salvations, miraculous healings,
and deliverances in the United States. In America Christians question
and dissect everything in Scripture and prayer to the point that the
moving of God’s Holy Spirit is lost. There is little room left for
blind faith in the United States, whereas in other countries they read
and believe and act on it.
In those places, such as China, where the greatest revival is
happening, they read, believe and obey. I have walked among them and
witnessed their undoubting faith. “The apostles said to the Lord,
‘Increase our faith!’ The Lord replied. ‘If you had faith the size of
a mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, Be thou plucked
up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey
you..” Lu 17:5-6. The nation of America has become the nation of the
disciple doubting Thomas.
Jesus stands ready to give us the gifts to release His
resurrection power. All we need to do is ask, talk to Him about the
use of the gift, and use it. We must desire the spiritual gifts that
God has for us if we are to walk in His resurrection power. “Verily,
verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do
shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I
go unto my Father.” Jo 14:12 .
If we don’t hold dear the the giftings He gives us, they will slip
through our hands, and be poured out on the ground. Around the first
of the year the Lord gave me a vision of His people. We all had
baskets held in front of us. But many Christians had no bottom in
their basket. When the gifts were given they simply fell to the
ground. He spoke very clearly to my heart to hold dear the gifts He
gives me, and to talk to Him regarding how they may be used to the
fullest flowing through me to others. He told me to ask for two to be
increased. As I have talked to Jesus, about these two that He put in
my heart for increase, I have seen them grow in my life.
Without a doubt the resurrection power will flow through us if we
allow the Holy Spirit to direct our lives. It always seems that when
Jesus tells me to do something that seems impossible rocks come before
my feet; they are Christian brothers and sisters. My dearest and best
friends were the first to tell me all the negatives of going to China
to find the girl of my God given vision. Thankfully I was able to
block out their thoughts and set my eyes like flint on Jesus, knowing
I had the backing of my husband and our church elders. The result was
a great miracle that only God could bring about. Our daughter Faith
was found and brought home. And I was able to walk in the underground
churches, witnessing many salvations and miracles.
In one of our churches we had many young people who were badly
deranged from drugs. We saw many deliverances from evil spirits that
set those young people free. Some were scary in the natural, but we
moved in the resurrection power of Jesus Christ, and they were set
free. “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, ‘Why could
we not cast it out?’ He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith.
For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will
move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” Mt17:19-20.
One young man came with his brains blown from drugs. He gave his
heart to the Lord and lived in our Men’s House that the church
supported. He was discipled for three years. We saw that young man
healed before our eyes as he regained the use of his brain. He got a
good job. His health improved and he got married. He and his wife
raised three children and are still walking with the Lord.
Jesus has promised His resurrection power to every believer in
Christ. When we receive Jesus as our Savior we receive His life. As we
fellowship with Him and other believers He gives us the power and
ability to walk in His gifts of resurrection power.
We must come to know Him and renounce the ways of the world;
living in it, but not be of it. Much of the church in this century you
cannot tell who is a Christian by the way they talk and act.
If we are walking in His resurrection power we will see
salvations, healings, and deliverances. We must stand up and declare,
I am a Christian! We must walk in His footsteps and the ways of His
early church found in Acts 2. As we begin to walk in His resurrection
power it will be evident to those around us that we have been with
Him. “Now when they beheld the boldness of Peter and John, and had
perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled;
and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Ac
4:13. May the Lord Jesus visit you and your church this Resurrection
Sunday!
