REMEMBER YOUR VALENTINE

"REMEMBER YOUR VALENTINE!" The month of February reminds us of these words. For, according to legend "VALENTINE" was a young Christian who lived in ancient Rome; but was imprisoned because of his Christian faith. During these times of confinement he longed for his loved ones, and wanted to assure them of his well-being, and of his love for them. So beyond his cell window, just in his reach, grew a cluster of beautiful violets. He then picked some of the heart-shaped leaves and pierced them with the words, "REMEMBER YOUR VALENTINE", and sent them off by a friendly dove. On some days his message would only say, "I LOVE YOU!". However, to those who love God, and trust HIM ONLY, our real Valentine is JESUS CHRIST. The bible says that His love is steadfast...unfailing...enduring....strong...forgiving...protective, impartial...everlasting, AND "it is better than life." See Psalms 63:3. As His offsprings we are called to express this same kind of love by our thoughts, words and action. Let us love as Christ loves. We can start by simply encouraging one another . Instead of criticism... a kind word...a smile...a hug...a postcard . For sometimes its the little things that mean so much. Loving like Christ loves, builds kinship with ALL people. (People of all races and country). Then we should love the Lord God with all our heart and soul and mind, and our neighbor as ourself. (See Matthew 22:37,39). The greatest expression of love that has ever happened is when Jesus (Our True Valentine) hung and died on Calvary''s cross to redeem us to the Father. An old hymn writer wrote: "Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all." The Christian Bible records: "Love beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things, never faileth. And now there is faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is LOVE! (See 1 Corinthians 13:1-8,13) Enjoy a happy Valentine Season!
