Happy New Year 2013!

New Years is often time when we want everything to be new. A new start, mark off the last year and start with a new slate. Forget the past and head towards the goal with new strength. As we tread on, let’s take a look at our goals and ambitions.
What should our goals be? There are all kinds of things in the world that people strive for: money, position, or material things. Let’s not strive for things that waste away. Remember what Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 6 verse 33 and 34.
...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.
As we read this passage in scripture we can have a peace that comes from God that he will give us all we need and more as our focus is on seeking him.
We need faith to know that he holds all things in his hands, the snow and the rain, the sun and moon and stars. And yet we still find reason to worry.
Sometimes we do have faith to know that God is big enough, but we wonder if he cares about the little things.
When Jesus was speaking about worry in Matthew chapter 6, he said, “Look at the birds of the air they do not toil or worry, yet your heavenly Father takes care of them. Are you not much more valuable then they?” I think when Jesus said that he meant for us to know that God cares about and wants to answer all our needs, the big ones and the little ones.
He wants to be our answer.
