The Cross and Our Healing

Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows. Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement [punishment] for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4,5 (NKJV) In these Scriptures, we see the wonderful love of God for us in that Jesus took our place on the cross both for our sins and for our sicknesses. Now, in my journey with Jesus, for some reason it has always been much easier for me to believe this Scripture for forgiveness of sins but more difficult to believe it for healing. Why is this?? Forgiveness of sins: slam dunk. Healing for my body, emotions, mind: question mark. Can you relate to this? Making the shift It is interesting to note that the first word here is, ‘surely’. This means, ‘Firmly and with confidence’. The word ‘borne’ here means, ‘suffered for’. I believe the key for us to experience what God promises in His Word is to hold fast to it and act upon it even when we don’t see it manifest right away. In the New Testament, we see a fulfillment of Isaiah 53:4,5 through Jesus. The Bible says in Matthew 8:16, 17: “When evening had come, they brought to him many who were demon possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: ‘He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.’” (NKJV) It works Recently, we had a ministry team training to begin equipping new people to pray in the Healing Rooms. We had just heard teaching on Isaiah 53:4,5. The Bible says that the Word of God is like a seed that God sends forth to accomplish what He pleases and that is will accomplish what He sends it forth to do (see Isaiah 55:10,11). We decided to see what would happen when we asked God to manifest His Word in us. I asked people to identify any area in their body where they had any kind of pain or illness or to put their hand over their heart if they needed any kind of emotional healing. We then spoke the Word of God in Isaiah 53:4,5 and asked God to manifest His Word in our point of need. After about 5 minutes of prayer, we began to ask around the room to see what was happening. One lady said that the pain in her upper back was gone; another said her voice was better from the laryngitis she was fighting; another woman said all the pain in her back was gone as well as the soreness in her body. Lastly, a man who was having stomach trouble said his stomach was much better. Praise God! Healing for you Let’s ask Jesus to make manifest what He purchased for you 2000 years ago- right now. This article is an interactive article where something should happen to you by reading this. It may already be happening right now. Gone are the days of just reading something and thinking, ‘Gee, that was nice.’ Are you ready? Here we go. Please take a moment and identify the area in your body that is not working properly, or the depression, anxiety, etc. in your emotions. Put your hand on the affected area of your body or over your heart. Stand fast on God’s love and promises for you and let’s invite Jesus to do something. Let’s pray. “Father God in Jesus Name, I come to You according to Your powerful Word and Your wonderful love for me. Thank You Jesus for suffering for me by taking my place on the cross. Your suffering was ENOUGH for every sin and sickness. Your Word says that you forgive ALL of my sins and You heal ALL of my diseases (Psalm 103:3). Jesus, right now, I receive from You, Your healing for (name the sickness) in my body and/or in my emotions. (Name the sickness) get out in Jesus Name! I receive from You, Jesus, what You purchased for me 2000 years ago. It is enough for my whole spirit, soul and body. I thank You Jesus that You are healing me right now as I read this newspaper. I thank You Jesus that when I get up from this seat that something will have happened in me. Thank you Jesus. Amen. Now, the people at this newspaper want to hear from you.
